Celluloid Soup
An initiative of the Jewish Museum of Australia (JMA), the Celluloid Soup Film Festival has been one of the highlights of the Museum’s calendar since 1998.
The festival aims to bring the community together, foster young talent, and encourage creativity through film. This medium is highly accessible, perfectly suited to exploring cultural and religious experiences of the Jewish community.
The best Celluloid Soup films will be screened at the Gala Night at The Astor Theatre, St Kilda 21 October 2010. The films are judged by a select group of people from the film, arts and Jewish communities.
For the first time, a filmmaking workshop was run and filmmaking lecturers have been be added to the programme in order to offer emerging filmmakers all the skills to participate.
The Jewish Museum of Australia is a community museum which showcases the Jewish experience in Australia’s diverse society. The museum is a highly respected and innovative cultural centre, recognised nationally for its excellence in exhibitions, education programs and collection management.
